have no physician they can call examinations or real dent a at on the Manor physician for Centennial Manor erupted treatment and consultation Into widespread publicity late last week when members of County Council learned residents were apparently not having annual medical gold anniversary The couple recetvi telegrams from Prime Minister Trudeau and Governorgenera as well as a plaque from Premier and a letter from Haiton West M P Minister of Energy and Resources Management George Kerr The anniversary celebration was attended by all 13 members OUR READERS WRITE Grand fireworks display R 2 Acton Dear Sir The Acton Firefighters deserve a lot of credit for the grand display of they put on for the citizens of Acton and vicinity at the park on Dominion Day And the minutes of fireworks were trcmen Everyone of the to people in at tendance at the park thoroughly enjoyed them There must have been the proverbial million children in attendance too Thank you Firemen for past favors Objects to charge at park the Editor I have been a citizen of this town now for three years and have been concerned about the problem of charging fee for entrance to Fairy Lake Park but I felt being a newcomer I should remain silent I feel It is pay also This charge for admittance only discourages them more from going to the park thereby not leaving tourist money in the town to better the town itself So I feel that Fairy Lake Park should be more for the people and not merely Just for the profit We should do more to encourage people to visit our town not chase them away With the charge people carry their picnic supplies anyway avoiding the man at the gate I feel If the park were left open it would attract more visitors to our town and park rather than being empty every weekend Perhaps there will be those who will disagree and those who agree Since we pay taxes to help support the park maybe something constructive can be done about this issue This letter has not been written to offend anyone only to state a point of view Some people will suggest that I don like the way things are done and tell me to go jump In the lake but I will not pay the dollar or whatever to go in Even though the charge is used to better the park I feel that the taxes we pay should be enough to support the park John Homes for the Age Problems first came a light when a resident with a respiratory ailment requested oxygen Provincial regulations prohibit oxygen storage at the Manor but arrangements were made to obtain a small oxygen pack If the Ontario I Ire Marshal will approve use of the unit When an Oakvlllc doctor complained patient of his had spent months In the Manor and never had the mandatory medical exam the Manor s committee of management reviewed the resident flics and found no evidence of medical service other than that provided by the nursing staff Manor administrator A Allen said there was no indication that resident or any others were not receiving proper medical care The Oakville woman own doctor had visited her four times in the two months prior to her death He said the medical reports on patients were not being kept up to date Mr Allen said J W McCutcheon of Milton is the home physician on a port time basis and he visits the Manor regularly to sec residents and confer with the nursing staff and has responded to nurses calls at all hours Dr McCutcheon explains that Section of the Act reads at least once a year each resident of a home shall be given a medical examination by the physician for the home or the attending physician He stressed that residents are free to call in their own doctor at any time or if they had a wonderful dream DarSlr Last night 1 had a wonderful dream and I thought it might come true sometime The Canadian Parliament assembled at a place called Justice Town were in the dream mulling over a deadend situation in the postal department For the first time in its history government and Opposition agreed to cooperate in settling the dispute What is the real trouble asked a back bencher You shall have the truth announced the Prune Minister unafraid In short the head of the department has offered quite a nice improvement in pay and working conditions but the men want perfection Are they by any chance being dogged on by American troubleshooters I think so Lots of the men want to return to work but they dare not That being the case spoke up the Opposition Leader let us be brave in doing right for our country and order those postal men back to work Such brave words as these have never before been heard in this House I agree with you heartily thanks for your cooperation replied the Prime Minister There was a clapping of hands and pounding of desks All in favour asked the Speaker Every member in that House stood up fearlessly determined to do right for Canada That is the end of the dream but here is something that is not a dream Banker are clever men Right now they are conniving to have control of government cheques so they not need to be sent by mail If they succeed the carrier will not even have the privilege of delivering these letters Fewer camera will be needed For goodness sake men wake up to your own interests and get to work I was told to do the same some years ago by the Superannuation boss when I was becoming elderly I did so and never regretted it I went north lived in a log cabin travelled to school through snow at degrees below It t perfection but I got to work Yours truly Milroy Name clerk building inspector for township Township ap Stated Campbell Thompson by Uw to assume the duties of treasurer and tax collector during a council meeting last week He assumed the position Jury succeeding MacJbtyre who bad served the township for a number of years Council also appointed W Savage as building inspector plumbing inspector and zoning administrator Mr Savage had held the position until bis resignation earlier this year Deputy Reeve G op posed Mr Savage ap pointment He maintained annual examinations done by their own physicians who have been attending them for many years said Dr He said he visits the Manor once or twice a day to check with nurses and read their noten an residents complaints The doctor sold he and Mr Allen have disagreed for some time over who should be doing the periodical examinations The report forms ore In a four page booklet with BO to 100
