In his 83rd year, Joseph Eugene Stephens passed away suddenly on Saturday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. F.W. Hooper, Murray Street, where he had resided for the last year and a half. He was born in Chicago and had spent many years at Calgary, Alberta, where he was formerly in the wholesale produce business. His wife predeceased him one year ago. Surviving, besides Mrs. Hooper, is a son, Flying Officer Hugh J. Stephens, at present stationed at Calgary; also a brother, H.L. Stephens, in Arizona. The funeral was held from his late home Monday afternoon with Rev. J.A. Ballard conducting the service. Entombment being made in Hamilton mausoleum.
