The Friends of the Oakville Public Library invite you to visit their Spring Book Sale, which is on this week and continues until Sunday, April 17.There is still time to come and browse the new and gently used books bring your shopping baskets and fill up for a summer of reading and relax-ation.The Book Sale is a great way to find books from various genres at a fantastic price whilst helping support many pro-grams at the Oakville Public Library.Dates and times of the book sale are as follows: Friday, April 15 from 9:30 a.m.-5 p.m.; Saturday, April 16 from 9:30 a.m.-5 p.m.; and Sunday, April 17 from 1-4 p.m.The book sale takes place in the Central Branch Auditorium, 120 Navy St. All books are $1.25 per pound and half price on Sunday.Become a Friends of the Oakville Public Library member today for just $10 for adults and $5 for students. Visit www.friendsofthelibrary.ca for more details.The spring book sale is organized by the Friends of the Oakville Public Library to raise funds to support specific library programs and services.All gently-used books are kindly donated by members of the Oakville community.This year alone, Friends of the Oakville Public Library provided more than $33,000 to support programs including the popular TD Summer Reading Program.This program engages thousands of children to read their way through the summer, keeping their minds alert and their reading goals alive.This year Friends also funded a digi-tal microfilm reader/scanner for the Oakville Room where many customers do their genealogical research.Such technology is a welcome addi-tion as customers can obtain far supe-rior viewing quality of microfilm reels and are now able to manipulate the digital data. Friends also support Battle of the Books contest for school-aged children, the annual Write2Xpress Competition for teens and other programs through-out the year including genealogy work-shops.
