manor with the arrival of santa claus bert sears along with his helper iu the clown assisted by members of the staff they distributed gifts to all residents from under two decorated trees ac companied by ann la vine at the organ the staff sang carols throughout the mor ning this was followed by an old- fashioned turkey dinner complete with plum pudding and all the trimmings while dec 25 was something special at green gables several gatherings preceeded it it all began nov 27 following the stouff ville santa claus parade jolly old st nick with kinsmen and kinettes visited the manor with goodies on dec 14 the merry men of markham 28 strong set up two christmas trees and entertained throughout the evening later the ladies fellowship from the christian gospel church at bloomington arrived with gifts and good wishes under the leadership of miss laura borne the next day the pilgrim pioneer girls of bloomington came carolling under the leadership of miss dorothy wagg on dec 20 principal harry hunt and 50 students of ballantrae public school arrived bearing beautiful table decorations for each of the residents they entertained with christmas carols and songs the management staff and residents are appreciative of all those who helped to make the past christmas season a very memorable oc casion acquaintances it is a good time for us to think of the older members of our families in our youth oriented society older people are too often ignored it is a devastating ex perience to realize that no one really needs us this is especially true of the older person who at the same time may be losing some of his faculties and normal activity must be curtailed social gerontology is a comparatively new science which has to do with the scientific study of aging and its effect on society as a whole in this christmas season let us take time to think compassionately of the needs of the in creasingly large percentage of our population who are no longer young among our park but even more so during the christmas season when good cheer and happiness should be uppermost in peoples minds it was therefore with regret that news was received of the passing of mrs eimina wiancko dec 24 in hospital at warsaw new york mrs wiancko had gone to bliss new york to spend the holiday time with her daughter margaret mrs wm barnes and family and suf fered a heart attack while visiting there although admitted to hospital some 20 miles away she failed to recover she was 84 born at ringwood the daughter of christian and christina raymer she had resided on hawthorne avenue in stouffville before taking up residence at parkview home last august she was identified with the stouffville missionary church surviving is one son eldon of stouffville one daughter margaret in bliss new york seven grandchildren and one sister mrs john leh man also of stouff ville mr wiancko her husband passed away in 1937 rev john hamilton conducted the service tuesday from the oneill funeral now available to you under both ohsip and ontario hospital insurance and it will do so at a lower combined premium than you now pay for the two separate plans the new premiums will be payable in january 1 972 and thereafter to cover benefit periods beginning on or after april 1 1 972 these new premiums will be 1 1 00 a month for a single person and 2200 a month for a family 2 or more eligible persons replaces ohsip and ontario hospital insurance the ontario health insurance plan will replace the ohsip medical and ontario hospital insurance plans as of next april 1 and you will then have only one plan to deal with one health insurance identification card one health insurance number your former ontario hospital insurance number one combined premium to pay if you now have ontario hospital insurance your changeover to the new combined plan will be automatic no action on your part is required as the new plan will be based on the existing hospital insurance billing system free for senior citizens after 1 year residence in ontario as of january 1 1972 residents aged 65 and over are exempt from paying ontario health insurance premiums to cover themselves and their eligible dependents to benefit from this exemption insurance may be transferred to the name of the older spouse if it is presently in the name of a spouse under age 65 most residents aged 65 years and over have already applied for premiumfree coverage but if you have not done so please write to the plan giving your ontario hospital insurance number your ohsip number and month and year of birth persons who turn 65 after january 31 1972 should applyatthetime for free coverage if you pay your premium on a direct basis write to the plan for an application if you pay through a group advise your group prem iumfree coverage will take effect on thefirst dayof the month in which your 65th birthday occurs any premiums paid to cover benefit periods beyond that date will be refunded premium assistance after 1year residence in ontario effective with the benefit month of april 1 972 individuals and families with no taxable income for the year 1972 are eligible on application for 1 00 ontario government prem ium assistance- individuals with loss than 1 000 taxable income in 1 972 and families with total taxable income of under 2000 are eligible for 50 premium assistance this will reduce the monthly premiums to 550 for such individuals instead of 1100 and to 1100 for an eligible family instead of 2200 taxable income is the amount on which a person pays income taxes after subtracting from his total income all exemptions and other deductions to which he is entitled note if you remit your premiums on a direct basis details on premium assistance will be mailed with your next premium notice residents enrolled in groups will be informed through their groups your present new identification cards tha plan will provide each insured single person and each insured head of a family with a new ontario health insurance identification card to use for insured services received on or after april 1 anyone who has not received his or her card by that date should use the current hospital insurance certificate after april 1 1972 for medical and hospital services until the new card is received ohsip card should be used when claiming for medical and practitioner services received up to
