alberta is visiting with his aunt mrs v postill and familv markham it was august 6 1921 that victor morgan and emily osburn were married at his parents home on symington avenue toronto on august 6 1971 victor and emily- morgan now of markham celebrated another important occasiontheir golden wedding anniversary they were honored dinner guests of their two daughters lillian mrs john borland toronto and grace mrs lloyd cox- worth markham rr 2 the family gathering was held at watts restaurant cedarbrae mrs morgan was lovely her powderblue dress accentuated by a yellow rose corsage mr morgan his usual friendly self enjoyed every minute of the outing his mother now 91 of toronto and her mother a resident of parkview home stouffville were able to attend mr morgan was born in cardiff wales one of four in the family of frank and sarah morgan a brother griffith and two sisters agnes and marjorie live in toronto mr morgan came to canada in 1913 later serving overseas with the 3rd canadian tunneling co and the 35th battalion he was twice wounded in action spending many weeks in hospital mrs morgan was born in portsmouth england also one in a family of four one brother claude lives on elizabeth street markham while a second john resides in coldwater a sister mrs gladys oakes lives in mississauga for mrs morgan the trip over to canada in 1907 holds few if any memories since she was a very small girl at the time victor and emily were married following his return from the war tfiey moved into their new home at longbranch but later on the advice of a family physician took up residence on 17th avenue markham where they mr and mrs victor morgan formerly of 17th avenue markham and now of dublin place apartments celebrated their 50th vedding anniversary august 6 with hosted by their two daughters dinner party jas thomas spent a period of 47 years the pot holes in the 8th concession were so bad we couldnt get our furniture in recalled mr morgan we purchased a stove and a bed at widemans said emily in april of this year they moved to the dublin apartments in markham their suite is 9h from their living room window nine floors above the street they can look out on the rural community that was their home for almost half a century it holds many wonderful memories but mr and mrs morgan do not live in the past they speak with pride of their five grandchildren wanda mrs steven ken nedy bryan and kenneth coxworth paul and bruce borland while their family refused to allow the occasion to pass un noticed neither did prime minister pierre trudeau opposition leader robert stanfield premier wm davis or york- centres donald deacon each sent telegrams of best wishes also much treasured is a framed plaque from hon john yaremko provincial secretary and minister of citizen ship the inscription reads on behalf of the honorable william davis prime minister and the government of on tario i extend hear tiest congratulations on your fiftieth wed ding anniversary may 24 in york county hospital newmarket he was 84 mr chapman spent his early years in the bethesda area later moving to pine or chard where he operated the service station 31 years three years ago he sold his home and business to live with his daughter mrs eveleigh in aurora his wife the former margaret harper died 13 years ago surviving are two daughters beatrice mrs walter john ston pine orchard and alma mrs harold eveleigh aurora three grand sons two great grandchildren and a sister mrs alma closson stouffville rev norman rowan conducted the service july 27 from the chapel of roadhouse and rose newmarket with interment pine orchard cemetery the pall bearers were grandsons bruce and verne eveleigh earl johnston and nephews clifford burkholder ross chapman and walter booth york
