the week end at the cottage of mr and mrs bert lloyd of rest nook beach miss betty moran of detroit mich was a guest of m and mrs w james of highland cottage windsor drive during the week end mr bud smith well known around this district for his donkey baseball act resides on churchill drive did you know that at one time there were five cottages on rest nook beach and these summer homes were occupied by five doctors mr and mrs j c adams and son david were guests for two weeks at the cottage of mr and mrs p boyd of rest nook beach mr and mrs adams have just recently returned from new york the idea has been passed around that all the cottagers around the lake should band together to have a clean up day in which improve ments to their homes and frontage should be made sounds like a good idea mrs charles stinton heads the community association this year as president taking over the office from mr l graham who held down the post last season other members of the board are mr cox vice president mrs len graham secretary and mr ernie mighall treasurer mr h a bevins who resides at rest nook beach has one of the most original and beautiful terrac ed flower gardens in the lake district mr bevins has spent much time with his prize posses sion and the result is certainly a work of art the garden is built up on a hill behind his house and during this time of year is a mass of flowering beauty will lead choir eldon b lehman who leads a one hundredvoice choir at the forthcoming evangelistic campaign in the stouffville arena commencing aug 19 dont forget to support the bingos held in week end at hawke lake mr and mrs gordon stiver are holidaying at hawke lake mr and mrs harold snowball spent the weekend at penetang visiting with mr and mrs andy morrison mr and mrs lome jarvis and jerry visited friends in hamilton mrs minton gordon and charles and miss faye oneill of stouffville are holidaying at sault ste marie and visiting with mr and mrs roy minton mrs ada hood attended the 25th wedding anniversary of mr and mrs geo kelly of buttonville on saturday mi and mrs vernon trunk owen mavis and mrs e braith- waite are visiting relatives in chicago margaret rainey and viola fos ter are vacationing at cream of barley camp bowmanville mr and mrs d strickland sylvia rodney and jackie mc- arthur are holidaying at bobcay- geon mr harold thome and dorothy swain merle smith and beatrice gingell angus mowbray and marjorie baker were married on saturday afternoon cedar grove dickson hill mr and mrs charles hoover and mrs levi hoover motored to clarence centre to visit daughter frances of fleet albta arrived at malton airport on sat urday morning and were soon sur prising and delighting their friends by an unexpected call at the homestead on monday evening the wideman families honoured their brother with a birthday celebra tion they will be renewing acquaintances for a short time and will then wing their flight home ward rev m bricker of toronto for mer kern- agahan liz mcmurray and emmy breithaupt saturday night if you remember it rained often and thoroughly but these girls aged 11 to 14 intended to sleep out of doors and they did just that next day the report was a gay oh our faces got a little wet apart from one accident when emmy breit haupt fell from her bike the week end was a great success and mon day morning eleven mosquito bitten sunburned but happy guides set off to bicycle 15 miles home as did the boy scouts of a few years ago the scarboro girl guide group displayed excellent camping sense during their week end by the river they were very grateful to ella coakwell for her arrangements ana charlie crouc- her for his camping site the strawberry social and euchre held last week at wood land park club house was a very successful event with about nine teen tables the winners were mrs jewett milliken mrs newton robinson whitevale and mr carr from the park the wood land park campers association have extended the cordial invita tion to cedar grove to attend their euchre this saturday even ing this will be a big euchre with lots of lovely prizes eleanor milroy is home again and progressing remarkably well she has just returned from a vaca tion in muskoka mrs les mil- roys sister was married at nigara- onthelake last week and she and mr milroy with mr artie milroy attended the wedding harold lapp and his pig had a busy day last sunday the pig had twentyfive piglets and har old had tb help out with the feed ing schedule this accounts for harolds absence from church and may affect the price of pork this winter the community club meeting will be held monday evening july 30 at the home of arthur reesor glen major mr and mrs wm eberlin of toronto spent the weekend at braeside mrs stanley todraw spent a few days last week with miss marie west at her cottage on lake simcoe mr and mrs joe jones called on mr and mrs ed johnson on mon day evening mr and mrs alec hingston and boys of toronto spent saturday with mr and mrs j a hingston miss betty risebrough left on tuesday for camp at lake couch- iching mr and mrs ed johnson and boys called on mrs c johnson pine grove on sunday evening mr and mrs charles fiss mrs wm fiss and edgar mr stanley todrow and mr levi story attend ed the funeral of mr newton story in oxbridge on sunday the sympathy of the community is extended to mr story on the loss of his brother mrs jim jones and shirley visited with mrs f walls of brooklin on monday mr and mrs arthur smith and girls are spending their holidays at braeside they motored to ott awa for a few days this week a group of young people from toronto came out thursday even ing and surprised mr claude sim- monds with a birthday party mr george noke of toronto was home with his mother mrs frank
