The pair of mini-concerts will take place in the lobby of the Oakville Centre for the Performing Arts. The 30-minute performances are part of the orchestras free series of young peoples mini-concerts designed to capture the attention of the imaginations of people of all ages and especially children aged four to nine. The childrens choir will be directed by Janet Stachow, its associate music director. The Green Keys Tour, featuring piano music performed by Torontos Frank Horvat, is hitting Oakville Saturday, Jan. 15. The free concert will feature cross-genre instrumental music which was inspired by the environment, poverty and Sept. 11 from Horvats album A Little Dark Music. The show will also include the performance of Earth Hour, a one-hour long composition performed and experienced in the dark. There will also be an eco-showcase. The tour is hitting more than 50 cities in the course of a year in an effort to promote and demonstrate eco-sustainable habits. Free piano concert and eco showcase The works of Oakville abstract artist Mara Schiavetto is currently on display at Julia Ristorante, with a reception scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 22 from 2 to 4 p.m. The artist has some 15 pieces of abstract floral paintings ranging in size from 12 by 12 inches to 42 by 42. The show went up earlier this month and is on display until Feb. 3. Schiavettos work is also currently appearing in other places. Among the vari- ous shows, shes part of a Visual Arts Mississauga juried show which is taking place at Neilson Park in Etobicoke. The show runs until Jan. 23.
