The ceremony will take place at 2 p.m. in the lobby of the SCAET build- ing at the Trafalgar Road Campus (accessible via Ceremonial Road). Remarks and poetry readings will be followed by a procession to the Peace Garden where 14 white roses will be laid in memory of the 14 women. Members of the public are welcome to attend. The contest was open to people across Canada to show their idea to create positive change in their communities, in the hopes of get- ting funding. Those projects received online votes and the top vote getters moved onto the semi-finals and the contest winners will receive the funding. Oakvilles James W. Hill Public Schools Project Playground A safe place to play, learn and meet was on one of the ideas selected out of the field of 2,200. Project Playground is seeking funding for the construction of a playground at the recently opened school with an empty yard. Voting for the semi-finalists began Thursday and the finalists will be decided by Dec. 15. A total of $1 million will end up going to the various winners, of which projects range from just a few hundred dollars to $500,000.
