Bull, a Big East Second Team honouree each of the past two seasons, became the first member of the Rutgers Scarlet Knights to take home first team conference honours since 2008. The Rutgers captain had one goal and two assists while providing team leadership and lockdown defence from her midfield position. Shimoda a soccer second-teamer Kaylen Shimoda was recently named to the 2010 Atlantic 10 Womens Soccer All- Conference second team. The former Oakville Trafalgar student led the Rhode Island Rams in scoring for the sec- ond consecutive season, notching six goals and an assist. This is the third year in a row that Shimoda has been honoured by the Atlantic 10. She earned honourable mention acco- lades as a sophomore in 2008, then was selected to the all-conference second team last season. The senior midfielder finished her playing career at Rhode Island with 12 goals and seven assists for 31 points, ranking her 22nd on the schools all-time list. The Dolphins Swim Club member, recently returned from the Commonwealth Games in New Delhi, won eight gold medals and set three club records at last weekends Harvest Invitational competition in Etobicoke. Peter Li also won eight gold medals and set eight club records. Joining Russell and Li atop the podium were Maggie Burns (five gold), Olivia Sbaraglia (five), Meryn McCann and Pari Barker. Kurt Schubert, Erin Wilson, Andrew George, Ian Chambers, Lauren Dixon and Shannon Russell also won medals at the meet for the Dolphins, who ranked fifth out of 35 teams from across Ontario. Dolphins fifth at Harvest Invitational Athletiques International sprinter Sura Yekka was one of three finalists for the top bantam girls runner in Ontario. Over the past year, the 13-year-old Yekka broke five provincial records in the 300- metre and 400m distances while knocking eight seconds off her personal-best time in the 800m. Yekka also won bronze at the national under-16 championships. The Athletiques club also received an accolade recently, being selected to host the 2011 Royal Canadian Legion District B championships.
