Piloted by the mentor teams from Big Brothers and Big Sisters, the mis- sion of the KCC is to introduce kids to the joys of cooking, eating and sharing the experiences with family and friends. On Saturday at 11 a.m., the public is invited to enjoy a meal prepared and served by the graduates of this last class of a four-part series. Longos has been a sponsor since the launch of this initiative 14 months ago and is hosting the graduation at The Loft in its Burloak store. Hanna is a chef and restaurateur from Oakville for 26 years. Her mission is to educate youths on the benefits of healthy eating by providing experiential learning programs which offer exciting, educational and inspirational events for children and those committed to their health and happiness. All of their senses will be engaged in a hands-on learning environment that teaches everything from knife skills to making a true mari- nara sauce. Tips and tricks in the kitchen are heightened with themes that enhance the experience (ie. Kiss the Cook and Our Farmers Are Our Rock Stars). The class participates in the meal preparation and then sits down to share a meal together as a family would. The Halton District School Board requires a maximum of three members-at-large to serve on its Special Education Advisory Committee (SEAC). The Committee, an advisory group to the Board, will bring forward information and recommendations regarding programs and services for exceptional pupils. Two trustees and up to 12 members representing local associations also serve on SEAC. The members at large must have the following qualifications: ? a Canadian citizen of the age of 18 years or older ? a resident within the jurisdiction of the Halton District School Board, and ? a public school supporter Board employees are not eligible for appointment.
