their best season ever. Coach Award - Zain Khot: Zain has been an integral part of the club since it was formed in 1999. He coached his team to semifinal appear- ances in both tournaments it entered this year, ran a youth clinic to educate children and is an executive member of the Hamilton and District Cricket League. Volunteer Award - Nasrullah Syed: Nasrullahs dedication to the club is second to none. He is the clubs secretary, enjoys working with junior mem- bers and was named best statistician by the Hamilton and District Cricket League. Oakville Crusaders Rugby Club Athlete Award - Becky Delaney: Becky has played for the club from the Crusaders mini pro- gram to the senior womens squad and has repre- sented both Ontario and Canada. In addition to coaching the Crusaders U15 and U18 teams this year, Becky captained the Canadian U20 womens team to victory in the NACRA championships. Team Award - U12 Arrows: The Arrows won their second straight provincial championship this season and went undefeated in their first tour of Ottawa. The team is known for the speed at which it executes its plays and its ability to effec- tively communicate and adapt quickly. Coach Award - Derek McCann: Derek has coached from the U8 to U16 age groups. This year, he took on the role of head coach for the U16 pro- gram and led the team to an unbeaten season and provincial title. Volunteer Award - Ravi Ponnambalam: Ravi has coached or been an administrator in the Crusaders mini program for nine years, helping the program grow from 30 members to more than 120. He also served as Rugby Ontarios U8/U10 mini convener. Oakville Girls Softball Association Volunteer Award - Mark Goacher: Mark has been an active member of the club for seven years. During that time, he set up the clubs website and online registration system while also implement- ing systems for organizing and monitoring equipment. Over the past several years, he has assisted with the setup and running of the Mayors Invitational Softball Tournament and indoor winter training clinics. Oakville Gymnastics Club Athlete Award - Jonathan Meehan: Jonathan enjoyed a stellar season, becoming the Canadian national tumbling champion in the youth mens division. He finished 12th in 15-16 mens tum- bling at the 2009 World Age Group Championships in Russia, and is currently preparing to compete in this years World Age Group Championships. Coach Award - Don Holmes: A power tumbling coach for 13 years, Don is an accredited Canadian coach and holds Level 3 certification in trampoline and tumbling. He has coached many national champions during his career and was the Canadian team coach at the 2004 world championships. Oakville Hornets Girls Hockey Team Award - Oakville midget BB Hornets: The Hornets had a dream season in 2009-10, going 19-2-1 in the regular season before going on to win the Lower Lakes Female Hockey League and provincial championships. They are the first Hornets team in 14 years to win both titles. Coach Award - Dominick Hardy: Dominick has coached for 10 years, five of those with the Hornets. In addition to coaching his daughters atom A team, he also volunteers time as a prac- tice coach with both of his sons teams. Dominick has also coached rugby, roller hockey and 3-on- 3 hockey. Volunteer Award - Wendy Solway: Wendy Drafted by the Montreal Canadiens. Became a Toronto Maple Leaf where he was an immediate fan favorite scoring 51 points in his first 48 games. Named to the NHL All-Rookie All-Star team. The quick skating playmaking center was a fan favorite in Toronto for 8 seasons. Made the Boston Bruins at the age of 19. Played 12 seasons as a first line center for Boston Bruins, Vancouver Canucks and the Toronto Maple Leafs. Had over 600 NHL points and was known for having one of the most powerful wrist shots in the NHL. Together they played over 1,345 NHL games for some of the best hockey coaches in the world.
