The two-day show and sale will be held on Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 27-28, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days. More than 112 vendors will be showcased, including Carmen Hickson from Red Pig Studio in Glen Williams; Robert Law, a local artist who creates greeting cards with his own sketches of local build- ings; Doris Treleaven of Metalscape in Limehouse; Beth Cameron, Hawthorne Hill Designs; Karen Pogson, another local artisan who sells her hand painted items all across Canada. Also, look for many new arti- sans Lobsang Dortee of Roots of Tibet, who creates Yak bone jewellery and hand-knitted Tibetan items; Tom and Donna New- berry, who will be selling handmade Acadian quilts from New Brunswick and Carol Henderson who creates and sells Native crafts. Of course, there will be many more vendors selling one-of-a-kind items from jewelry to wood- crafts to honey. Also attending this year are a self published author and a distinguished landscape photographer. The weekend will also include the usual 50/50 draw and raffle prizes including a Muskoka chair, created at GDHS and handpainted by Lauren Boyce, a GDHS alumni art student; a painting by one of the vendors; a faux-stained glass item by Sherri Wells, our Drama Department head; a garden item donated by Arnolds Nursery and Susan Pippys (Artisans Attic and GDHS parent alumni) famous pottery fish. This year the Senior Boys and Junior Girls Basketball teams will be barbecuing hot dogs and hamburgers and coffee, juice, bottled water, etc. will also be on sale. If youre coming for break- fast, look for muffins, bagels, apple squares and danishes to go with your coffee. The Art and Craft Show is a major fundraiser for GDHS. Last year funds raised were used to purchase such items as an electronic baby for parenting classes, data projectors, graphing calculators for math and other equipment needed by the various departments. In addition, 30 per cent of the sales proceeds were paid out to var- ious teams and clubs at the school to help with their particular expenses. Students are once again volunteering to help with the many tasks that need to be done this weekend. Some are helping to earn needed volunteer hours, some are participating as a team endeavour to raise funds for their particular sport or club, and some are helping just because they enjoy the weekend. Admission is $4 for adults and you will receive one free raffle ticket with your admission ticket. Children under 12 years are admitted free.
