Independent & Free Press, Wednesday, October 10, 2007 23 ENTERTAINMENT Documentary film producer seeks mothers living with daughters Your kids have finally grown up and left the nest (hopefully for the last time) and now your mother is about to move in. Moms Home, a new TVOntario documentary, explores the life- changing challenges and rewards mothers and daughters experience in a shared household this time in the daughters domain. Moms Home producer/director Maureen Judge is looking for ordinary families willing to share extraordinary stories about mothers mov- ing into their adult daughters homes. A recent Statistics Canada report indicates that one in seven Canadians is 65 or older and the majority of these seniors are women. The Canadian population is aging, says Judge, and for many reasons, seniors are choosing to move in with their kids and creat- ing a new family dynamic. More and more female boomers are finding themselves enmeshed in intimate and surprisingly new- fangled relationships with their mothers as they reach out to assist them and redefine both of their lives. Moms Home is the Genie award-winning director of Unveiled: The Mother Daughter Relationship and the film, In My Parents Basement, a portrait of kids returning home to live with their parents.. Judge describes Moms Home as the third film in a trilogy of honest and provocative por- traits about contemporary Canadian families- in-transition. She is looking for individuals and families who are interested in opening up to the camera and sharing their stories. Interviews for subjects are currently under- way. Interested participants should contact the producers for more information or to set up an interview.
