Mulvale only won one ward Ward 5 her home ward and that just barely. Mulvale totaled 3,588 votes in Ward 5 just 150 more than Burton. However, election results went sour for her in all the other wards. Burton thumped Mulvale in his home turf of Ward 3 with 4,284 votes compared to Mulvales 2,920. He also received greater support at 10 of the 12 polling sta- tions in the ward. This was a wider margin than four years ago, but in the election of 2006, Ward 3 voters gave greater support to a third can- didate. Back then Burton received 2,579 votes, followed by Chris Stoate with 2,140 and then Mulvale with 1,932. Despite the high support for Stoate in Ward 3, he fin- ished a distant third in 2006. During this years election, Burton received overwhelming support at a few polling stations in Ward 3, which include getting 529 votes to Mulvales 210 at a sta- tion located at Chisholm Public School and 358 compared to 130 at St. Luke Elementary School. Aside from his home ward, Burton also received tremendous support on the other end of town in Ward 4. Here he got 6,316 votes to Mulvales 4,109 and took the majority support of voters from all 16 polling stations. The race in Ward 6 consisted of Burton getting 3,455 votes to Mulvales 2,702 and winning eight of the nine polling stations. The race was closer in Wards 1 and 2. In Ward 1 Burton tallied 2,870 votes and Mulvale received 2,420. Burton also won at five polling stations, Mulvale won another and they tied the seventh. In Ward 2, Burton received 2,695 votes and six polling stations and Mulvale had 2,451 and two stations. Mulvale did, however, edge Burton out in advanced polling stations winning by 11 votes with 2,000. She also received major- ity support at three of the five advanced polling stations. The other two candidates, John McLaughlin and Raymond Ray, did not manage to break the 100-vote mark at any of the towns 68 polling stations.
