The donation, the largest in Oakvilles history, will go towards the founda- tions $60 million contribution to the new Oakville hospital. Gilgan spoke about his motivation for making this unprecedented ges- ture during a special recognition ceremo- ny, held within a large tent at the windswept future site of the hos- pital at Third Line and Dundas Street. Last howl for haunted house on Banburry Crescent By Dominik Kurek OAKVILLE BEAVER STAFF Its been dubbed Halloween House by the neighbours and for years Gary and Kathy Shortt have been happy to entertain the commu- nity with their spooky displays. Now that their three children have grown up, the Shortts have decided to take a hangmans noose and hang up their large displays of horrific fiends and scenes. This will be the 22nd and final year for the Shortts Halloween display that has grown so large over the years it now spills onto the neighbours lawns. We started when we bought the house 22 years ago and we didnt have any grass in the first year, so I piled up a pile of clay, put a head- stone on it and hands and a skeleton head and feet and boots sort of stick- ing out, Gary said of the display. The next year I had grass, so I thought I cant do that. So I did a couple other things and every year I just kept adding more and more and more.
