The concert, titled Sweet Harmony, named for the harmony created by the two music groups, will take place on Saturday, Oct. 30 at St. Johns United Church. Intrada Brass is partnering with Toronto-based Northern Lights Chorus, which will bring its barbershop sounds to the concert. There will be nothing hard on the ears in this concert. Barbershop harmony is all about consonant sound, with noth- ing to distract from the melody, said Intrada Brass conductor Bram Gregson. The concert will include versions of Amazing Grace, The Grandfather Clock as a solo, and The Flight of the Bumble Bee on a tuba solo by Rob Brown. Also in the bands lineup is Gaelforce, a rhapsody on well-known Gaelic songs, and the concert march Glorious and Free by the bands associate conductor Kevin Norbury, head of music at Kings Christian Collegiate in Oakville. Tickets cost $20 for adults and $15 for seniors and students, which are available at the Oakville Centre for the Performing Arts box office (www.oakvillecentre.ca) or at the door.
