Mulvale held her election-night celebra- tions at Le Dome Banquet Hall where people congratulated her for running. Former Toronto Argonaut Dan Ferrone, who was co-campaign manager for Mulvale, told the gathering that it has much to cele- brate, including the hard work Mulvale and her supporters have done. We have had a great team come togeth- er, work hard, and make great things hap- pen. We get to celebrate all the work, all the camaraderie, all the friendships that we have grown through these last few weeks. Tonight we celebrate, tomorrow we cry, he joked. Tomorrow we mourn, be depressed, be whatever you want tomorrow. But tonight, enjoy. In her speech, Mulvale told supporters there will be nothing to mourn or regret the day after the election because her support- ers had done a great job and engaged the public. I won the beer pool in 2006 and I won the cupcake poll (this year). But theres another poll that we tried to win and it does- nt look like it happened. But never think for a moment that it was for naught, she said to more than 200 of her supporters on election night. There are young people who have never voted, who caught the excitement and imag- ination of an ad campaign. There are people out there who have never voted in a munici- pal election before and if voter turnout has increased we have done our job. We engaged the people. We have held accountable the incumbent and made sure he didnt have a free ride. That is valuable. That, my friends, speaks to a victory because it speaks of the mobilization of people with passion who care about their community.
