The senior choir will sing at an Oct. 28 fundraiser in Toronto in support of the PACT Urban Peace Program. The program is a Canadian charity helping at-risk youth and building peace and hope in urban communities in col- laboration with the courts and schools. The choir will sing Give Us Hope, as well as other songs such as Wavin Flag. Our goal in performing at this event is to support the PACT organization by expressing a story and message through the power of choral music in the singing of Give Us Hope, said OCC artistic director Sarah Morrison, in a press release. So far in 2010, the PACT program has helped 800 youths through skills devel- opment, life planning and coaching. PACT stands for participation, acknowl- edgement, commitment and transfor- mation. The PACT Experience event is a pres- entation of song, video and fashion to some of the most influential corporate, entertainment and social industries at the Kool Haus. The senior choir is also performing its Remembrance Day concert at St. Johns United Church on Sunday, Nov. 7. Following that performance, the inter- mediate choir will perform with the Mississauga Temple Band at Mississaugas Living Arts Centre on Nov. 28. The comedian will be at the Oakville Centre for the Performing Arts on Wednesday, Oct. 27. Dee has made numerous television appearances on shows and commercials and has performed on Last Comic Standing and Montreals Just for Laughs International Comedy Festival and its television broadcasts. Dee, who played hockey in university, ended up hosting his own show on The Score cable channel titled Gerry Dee: Sports Reporter. The show involves humourous interviews with athletes and Dee has interviewed the likes of Wayne Gretzky, Michael Jordan, Charles Barkley, Cito Gaston and others. Funny man Dee coming to Centre People have a chance to come out and laugh at a show with a renowned Canadian comedians while supporting four local charities. The fourth annual Premier Charity Comic Classic (Chuckles for Charity) is returning to the Oakville Centre for the Performing Arts Friday, Oct. 29. Featured will be comic Steve Patterson, best known as the host of CBC Radio Ones The Debaters and who has appeared on television specials of Just For Laughs. The event will support four charities: Community Living Oakville, Childrens Aid Foundation of Halton, Kerr Street Community Services and The Goddard Group Foundation. Patterson has earned multiple Canadian Comedy Award and Gemini nominations. He is also a humour writer, whose arti- cles have appeared in the Globe and Mail, Toronto Star and The Irish Independent. The annual event has raised more than $160,000 to date and the goal for this year is to exceed last years total of $60,000. Tickets cost $75. A reception starts at 6:30 p.m. with hors doeuvres and two drinks in the foyer, followed by the show on the main stage at 7: 30 p.m. There will also be a live auction.
