The new requirements are part of the pro- posed amendments to the Towns Official Plan, Zoning Bylaw and North Oakville Zoning Bylaw. An open house will be held on Sept. 21, fol- lowed by a public meeting on Sept. 27. Council, in March 2009, unanimously approved an interim control bylaw prohibiting power plants greater than 10 megawatts to give staff the time to develop policies and regula- tions on how they should be treated, said Mayor Rob Burton. These proposed regulations are the product of nearly 18 months of work and Council is eager to hear feedback about them from the community. The proposed amend- ments will provide policy direction and regulation on how to treat develop- ment proposals for power generation facilities, includ- ing cogeneration facilities. The new requirements provide the Town with the ability to assess proposals for power generation facilities to determine their appropriate scale and location within the town. The proposed amend- ments are available on the Towns website. The open house will be held on Sept. 21 from 79 p.m. in the Trafalgar Room at Town Hall. Oakville residents, businesses and commu- nity groups can provide feedback on the pro- posed amendments and ask questions of Town staff. The public meeting is at Planning and Development Council on Sept. 27 at 7 p.m. in the Council Chamber at Town Hall. Council will hear public delegations at this meeting.
