Otherwise, the OSD does not believe in its students attending local competitions as they have become more sport-oriented, very political and extremely expensive for the parents. The OSD, however, prides itself in offering full length productons such as The Nutcracker for stu- dents to participate, and as the School has its own wardrobe, even costume purchasing or rental does not become an issue! Rehearsal times are completely separate from class times there- fore not interupting, but enhanc- ing a young dancers training. The OSD believes when selecting a ballet school, much consideration should be taken. You are placing your childs emotional and physical development into the hands of an instuctor. Only a truly experi- enced, professional teacher can guide a young dancer through the careful and gradual process of their training. The young artist, whether pursuing a career in dance, or enjoys classes an an extra curricular activity, deserves only the finest and most proper instruction. Why settle for anything less? An outstanding faculty of dance professionals with extensive performing and teaching experience form the core of the OSD. The OSDs faculty under the Artisic Directorship of Amanda Bayliss provide classes in which children are eager to learn, and are proud of their accomplishments. The faculty concen- trates on developing dancers with a strong technical foundation, freedom of movement, and a sense of style and grace. What pleasure it imparts to give the child with little or no ballet background and mould them into a future genration of great choreographers, dancers and teach- ers!
