C4CA has been humbled by the collec- tive support of this community for clean air and against a power plant that defies com- mon sense. In recognition of this, C4CA invites you to join us for an evening of music, food and fun, said Nancy Robertson of C4CA. The event will take place from 6:30-9 p.m. in the Chisholm Education Centre parking lot located at 1484 Cornwall Rd. It will take place rain or shine, so those attending are urged to dress for the weather. The evening will be compliments of C4CA, however with more than 5,000 resi- dents relying on food banks in Oakville, organizers are asking those attending to consider bringing a donation for the food banks. Priority needs include canned fruit and vegetables, brown and white rice, canola oil, healthy cereal and diapers. C4CA has arranged it so that people can bring their small Stop the Power Plant signs to Cornwall Road Park between 9 a.m. and noon on Saturday. During that period the signs will be collected at the park and recycled. An area man is hoping that his camp for youth and children can get a boost in space. Scott Graham has entered the Aviva Community Fund online voting contest hoping that his Camp Kahuna Leadership Camp project will garner enough votes for him to get some funding for the purchase of land. The Aviva contest has three categories, the up to $25,000, the $25,000-100,000 and the $100,000-500,000. People can vote on the different projects. The top 90 selections will be narrowed to only one per each cate- gory by a final jury. Graham has entered the largest category hoping to be able to purchase some available land in Puslinch, Ontario. He said buses would be available to take children to and from Oakville. The camp would teach children aged six to 16 leadership skills and would be open to children living with challenges such as deal- ing with cancer, HIV/AIDS, cranial/facial dif- ferences and more. Graham has been running the Kids 4 Kids Leadership Program and summer camps at area campgrounds since 1993 and has had 17,000 children go through the pro- grams, he said on the voting site. Voting ends on Oct. 15. To vote on the project, visit http://www.avivacommunity- fund.org/ideas/acf5595. C4CA celebration on Friday Leadership camp needs your help
