A lifelong resident of Oakville, Marai said his family has always been active in Catholic education in the town with his mother being a retired elementary school teacher for the board and his sister serving as a cur- rent teacher in Oakville. Marai is a small business owner and is an active member of the Oakville commu- nity. His past involvement with the communi- ty includes being a member of the Holy Trinity School Council, Chair of the Oakville Youth Advisory Committee, a member of the Halton Catholic District School Boards stu- dent senate and a reader at the Mary Mother of God Parish. I believe trustees, parents and students are all one team, said Marai. We are blessed to live in such a beautiful community as Oakville and we must work together to give our kids the best education- al opportunities. Besides improving communication, Marais priorities include the greater use of technology in the classroom, a responsible Resident eyes job of Halton Catholic school trustee I believe trustees, par- ents and stu- dents are all one team. n Paul Marai, Oakville and transparent school board budget accessi- ble to all, improved test scores in Oakville schools and the implementation of an advanced financial literacy curriculum. We need to infuse fresh ideas into the Halton Catholic District School Board. The HCDSB must identify characteristics of the most successful school systems around the world and implement what works, said Marai. I want our children to not only suc- cessfully compete against their peers in Ontario, but globally. Only with better schools will we have a brighter future.
