Lapworth, who will be competing with former Bronte Butterfly Foundation Executive Director Susan Sheppard and community advocate Brian Burton for the Ward 4 Town of Oakville councillors seat, has held the position of vice presi- dent of finance and chief financial officer for local major corporations in the GTA for more than 35 years. He is also a professional sound and stage lighting engineer and says he has personally donated his services to more than 19 local community groups over the past four years. Lapworth is also the founder of The Retro Rock Lounge, a non-profit organ- ization that supports and promotes amateur musicians within the Arts Community throughout the GTA. Last incumbent to seek re-election Roger Lapworth be incumbent Oakville Mayor Rob Burton and former Oakville mayor Ann Mulvale. A third mayoral candidate John Kay, withdrew his candidacy. Michael Loomans will join John McMullen and incumbent Ralph Robinson in competing for the Ward 1 councillors seat. A former councillor and past presi- dent of the Oakville Chamber of Commerce, Stephen Sparling, has joined John Hogg in challenging Ward 2 incumbent Cathy Duddeck in the race for the Ward 2 Town and Regional councillors seat. Chartwell-Maple Grove Residents Association Vice President Dave Gittings is now running against Trafalgar-Chartwell Residents Association President Nick Hutchins and incumbent Mary Chapin for the Ward 3 councillor position. Rosario Bragdon of Young Achievers of Halton will take on incum- bent Max Khan for the Ward 6 council- lor seat. Town and Regional Ward 6 Councillor Tom Adams, Town and Regional Ward 5 Councillor Jeff Knoll, Town and Regional Ward 4 Councillor Allan Elgar and Town and Regional Ward 3 Councillor Keith Bird are cur- rently running unopposed in their wards.
