Elliott, Robert
- Full Text
A VERY sad accident occured on Tuesday last, near the residence of Johnson Zimmerman, Esq., Nelson. Mrs. Robert Elliot of Omagh, was driving to Mr.Zimmerman's accompanied by Mrs. William Elliot of Chinguacousy, who was holding a babe of the former. A bolt fell out and let the whippletrees on the horses who plunged forward and jerked the lady driving out of the wagon, which passed over her arm and severely bruised her head. The maddened team rushed violently along the line until they came to Zimmerman's lane, where they wheeled so suddenly that the others were thrown out on a heap of stone, and both so injured that their recovery is despaired of. Mrs. W. Elliot is frightfully injured and bruised, and the baby although it has no external injuries, being found on the seat cushions on the pile of stones, yet Dr. Buck considers that concussion of the brain has taken place. Mrs. R. Elliot who is a daughter of John Bigger, Esq., of Trafalgar, is not severely injured, and suffers more on account of her child than for herself.
Since writing the above we learn that the child has died, and both ladies are still in a precarious state.- Featured Link
