MILITARY NOTES
Dr. G. B. Carbert, of Campbellville, received official notice from Ottawa on Monday that his son, Captain Charles Molyneau Carbert, Military Cross, had been killed in action last week. Captain Carbert was reported missing since Feb. 1. He was twenty-two years of age. He went overseas in 1915 as a subaltern in the 20th Battalion, and repeatedly distinguished himself. He was decorated and promoted for bravery in leading his men in the taking of a German trench on the Somme last September. Shortly afterwards he was transferred to the Flying Corps, in which he began real service in December. Early in January in an encounter with two German machines his own was badly riddled and took fire, but he managed to alight behind his own lines. He was hurt, but was on duty again within a few days.
