Death of Former Esteemed Resident.
From the Gloversville, N.Y., Leader we learn the following respecting the death of Mr. John Perkins, father of Mrs. W. H. Speight, Park Ave: "At 3.45 o'clock Friday morning occurred the death of John Perkins, a well-known and highly esteemed resident of this city, at his home, No. 50 South Judson street. He sustained a stroke of paralysis last Tuesday, from which he did not rally, and his sudden death will occasion sincere regret among his many friends. Deceased was 69 years of age and was born in Worcester, England. He was a table cutter by trade and for the past twelve years has resided in Gloversville. He was employed at Adler & Co.'s factory and was much esteemed by his employers, as well as by his fellow workmen. He was an honorary member of the Table Cutters' union and also an esteemed member of Christ's Episcopal Church, a man whose exemplary Christian life was worthy of imitation. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife and five children, Arthur Perkins, of Ohio; Joseph Perkins, of Brockville, Canada; Mrs. W. H. Speight, of Acton, Ontario; Mrs. John Lambert, of Toronto, Canada; and Mrs. H. H. Nelson of this city. The funeral service, conducted by Rev. Malcolm Johnson, will be held at Christ's Episcopal Church at 3 o'clock Sunday afternoon. The interment will be made in Prospect Hill cemetery." Mr. Perkins was for a number of years a resident of Acton. He was employed at the Canada Glove Works and was a most worthy citizen. During his residence here Mr. Perkins was one of the most active members of St. Alban's Church. About a year ago he and Mrs. Perkins spent a month or so in Acton visiting their daughter and former friends here. Mrs. Speight and the family have general sympathy in their bereavement.
