MISTAKEN FOR A DEER.

Panton, Milton, While Hunting.
Wm. A. Clark, manager of the Toronto Cream and Butter Company, was accidentally shot and killed by Wm. Panton, of the Champion, Milton, last Friday morning at ten o'clock. Clark wore a brown coat and Panton mistook him for a deer and shot him through the heart. Both men belonged to the Milton Hunt Club, located on the Pickerel River, fifteen miles away from Dunchurch, Muskoka.
Editor Panton of the Milton Champion is an experienced deer hunter and is known to be a most careful man. He has been shooting at Dunchurch every fall for fifteen years.
Mr. Clark left last week for his annual hunt. Though living in Toronto he had lived in Milton, where he conducted a creamery for several years, and was well known as an active business man. He leaves a wife and six children. Great regret will be felt for all concerned in such a sad affair. Mr. Clark was the judge on butter at the fair here a year ago.
