While the startling rumor of the suicide of caretaker Slater excited the townspeople on Monday morning the report soon spread that another sad occurrence had taken place during the night. That morning Mr. James Costigan did not rise for breakfast as usual. His sister-in-law knocked at his door and receiving no answer entered to find him lying in his bed as if in sleep, but it was the sleep of death. He was in his usual health on Sabbath and it is supposed his death was caused by disease of the heart. His father died when he was quite young and he nobly assisted his mother who now mourns his loss, and the younger members of the family. He was 45 years old and had worked at Dayfoot's shoe factory for a number of years, and was highly esteemed as an industrious and worthy citizen. - Featured Link
