Death of a Former Resident.
The sad intelligence of the death of Mr. John Milne, of St. Louis, Mo., reached his relatives here on Sunday about noon. He had been in ill health some months and gradually failed until death came on Sunday morning. Mr. Milne left Acton over twenty-five years ago and has been in St. Louis most of the time since. He was a miller by trade and by his ability and perseverance forced himself to the front ranks of his vocation and was for a number of years manager of the Plant Milling Co's works, one of the mammoth flouring mills situated on the banks of the great Mississippi, at a very liberal salary. Mr. Milne was a most genial character and highly esteemed by all. He lived in the hearts of his family who will mourn the loss of a loving husband and father. Last fall when visiting St. Louis, the editor of the FREE PRESS spent a couple of days with Mr. Milne, who exerted himself in every possible manner to entertain him and make the visit a delightful one. Mrs. Anthony Stephenson and Mrs. James McLam of this town are sisters of Mr. Milne. As a young man here he was a general favorite with his companions, who will ever remember him as "Johnnie Milne."
