OBITUARY. - On Monday last one of the oldest residents of the county, Mr. Thomas Racey, of Milton, departed this life at the ripe age of eighty-eight years. Mr. Racey has held the office of Registrar for this county for the past 43 years. On the 3rd of May, 1833, he was appointed to the position of Registrar for the counties of Halton, Wentworth, Brant, Waterloo and Wellington, and had Dundas for his headquarters. In 1842 the work connected with the office, having greatly increased, the counties of Wellington and Waterloo were set off, and in 1855 it being considered advantageous to have a Registrar for each county, he chose Halton, and removed to Milton, and efficiently performed the duties of the office until his death. He was respected by all, and his bereaved family have the sympathy of the entire community. Mr. Racey was the oldest county Registrar in the Province.
