Lawybe's Office Exhlobion.â€" It wasn't the office which exploded, neither was it the Lawyer, but a lamp which stood on the table amongst divers papers books etc., in McCuUon^'s law office in McFarland's block on Friday evening last. Mr. McCnllough was out at the time, bat the fiare was seen through the window from Tomer's Drug Store, from which willing hands mshed to the rescue of the building and soon got the fire under control, not however before the table cover and room carpet were destroyed* Mr. McOullough had Ids hands bHstored in the fray, but not seriondy burned. Had the fire got a few xanwteB mora headway it would have l«eii oM of the most destructiTe in tiM btotory of the villi«e. The Masquerade Carnival at the Roller Rink on Friday night last was a grand success, notwithstanding the bad state of the roads. The redaction of mternal levenue and the taking off of revenue stamps from Proprietary Medicine, no donbt has largely benefitted the consumers, as well as relieving the burden of home manofactores. Especially is this the case with Green's August Fluwer and Bosehee' German Syrup' as the redaction of twenty siz cents per dozen, has been added to in- crease the size of the botile containing tiieas remedies, thereby giving one-fifth more medicine in the 75 cent size, The August Flower for Dyspepsia and Liver Complamt and the German Syrup for Cough and Lung troables, haveperhaps, the largest sale of any medicine in the world. The advantage of increased size of the bottle will be greatly appreciated by the sick and afflicted, in every town and of village civiUzed countries. Sample bottles for 10 cents remain the same size. E. O- W. "Fire 97," said a busy hotel clerk to the new porter. Presently the porter returned looked very much mussed up, "I fired him. sor," he said "but, begorra for jist wan blissed moment I thought he had me." I WONDER. If the three Grey's will repeat their recent verdict. If the two Touhg Liberal Club's are any benefit to their respective parties. Or even to themselves. If the new Village Police have been sworn in. Or if they have had a meeting of the board. If they intend taking up the incorpor- ation question. If they could perform an act that would be as great a benefit tb the town. If more public ^irit and enterprise on the part of our leading bosineas men would not be pr^table iodlTidnaUy as well as collectively. If Ministers of the Goq^ should be above criticism. If the actions of any pnblie saen or body of men may not be ariticifled with profit to all ocmoemed. If there is anything mor9 £ffiealt to eritieise throogh tiia press than Ubie local va^peac. Or that neadi it more. This is to certify that I haye used McGregors Speedy Care fca: Dyspepsia and Liver Com- plaint, and do honestly say that if it cost me one hundred (ftlOO.OO) a bottle I would not be without it, as it has done me more good than all the medicines I ever used, and I feel like a new man. â€" Yonrs truly, Alex.
