October 24th 1882, m-4w,* The following romantic 8*ory is told by a writer in the Winnipeg Times. We fancy id will puzzle O'ilHa readers to di.^cover tho identity of the hero and heroine of the tale â€" About five years ago their lived ia the town of Orillia, Ont., a widow 40 years of age. She became greatly attached to a young mao, or rather a boy, 18 years of age. She in- vited tne young fellow to her house, made him many handsome presents, and in fact did every thing in her power to win his af- fections. Several months passed by, and although she had several times resolved to tell him of her love, her courage bad always failed her. But love, like murder, will out sooner or later, and one evening she almost took the boys breath away by telling him that she loved him tenderly and truly. She ' almost fainted when she had spoken the words and clasped him to her brest, and lay sobbing upon his bosom for seveial minuter When she recovered she entwined her anuii arouod his neck and whispered "My darling CharUe, will you be mine, or do you wish to break my heart " CharUe was a boy of goood common sense, and knowing her to ba worth several thousand dollars, he swore to be t:ue to her till death. Her joy may be much letter imagined than told. He pro- posed that she give him aionev tc go to col- lege for a year, to which she assented. They weire married a week or so before he left for the college in Toronto. In that city he had a "high old time" and spent nearly half of the old lady's money. He returned when the year was up, but a few months after- irards proposed that they should remove to Manitoba. He saia he would go first and get a house ready for her. She agreed and gavu him nearly all tiie money she had. He camo and for two years she had heard nothing ot' liim, although she sent several letters to him and made every inquiry. At last in her des- pair she resolved to go to Winmpeg aud search for him };ierself. She arrived in tho city a couple of weeks ago, and after being hx the city a couple of days she met him on tbn street. Instead of oailing him false and hearllcss, she hung upon his neck and wepii' tears of joy. But the young husband, who is no longer "My Darling CharUe," was very tmgry at her for coming after him, and com- manded her to retom home, and never to trouble him again. He said he did not love her, but had only fooled her from the ni. The shook was too much for the poor old lady, and she had to be taksn to her hotel in a cab, and the mow hes in a very prncar- ioos o(Hulition, nilering it is said, from hrain fever. Her hewtlew hTwband has refosed to see her, botezprewes he hope that tiie wilt die. It appeals that when ha arrived here he commenced to «peenlate, and is now. worth over 1100,000. He is engaged to a young lady inHhis city, and for that reason isanzioas to get rid of his first "love." Bo has (rfteed to give hex flO.OOO if sbo wiQ. go henw and not tnmUo him, but tiie old lady fliu treated his ^t with ri^teoas oontenqfti m. ^^ 11 irf, 5 ;^'
