A prominent citizen of thife dis- trict passed away in Markdale hos- pital Friday morning in the person of Mr- Wm- Long, who has resided at the home of Mr- Ben McKenzie for the past three years. He had been in failing health for some time and was tenderly cared for by Mrs. McKenzie who did everything pos- sible to make him comfortable and happy. Thursday evening he was tak- en to Markdale hospital, and pasteed away the following day. He was To years old last March. The funeral was held Monday afternoon with cer- vice in Varney Church,. A most comforting sermon was preached by Mr. Wm. D- Halliwell.
