Miss Roth Hemphill, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Percy Hewuphill, is taikmg part in the Festival of Mu'sic in Owen Sound this week. Mr. J. Another pleasant social evening was held on Thursday evening, un- der the auspices of the Hall Board. The WA. of the United Church was held Tuesday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Leslie McMuUen. Mr. Glenn Jenkins has been trans- ferred from the Eugenia Hydro plant to the one at Bala- >Mii-s. William Fawcett has gone to Collingwood hospital again. The trio from here which went to Owen Sound Friday evening- won second place in the Musical Festi- val, takig 88 marks, just one mank behirjd the winnert. There were 36 entries from all over Grey County. The girls were Joan Ellis, Ruth Chard and Lois Kirkpatriek. Mr. Fred JoUey has been engaged as principal in the school here- Mr. Wilfred Allen of Meaford has purchased the Robert Ward farm, west of the village. The W. I. is making preparations for their annual celebration. A numiber from here attended the circus in Owen Sound. Mr. and Mrs. Knack of Niagara Falls spent a few days at the home of Mrs. McLachlan. Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. John Ritchie on the birth of a son in Orangeville hospital. Mrs. Dan Campbell had the mis- fortune to fall outside Wednesday evening and suffered a broken leg just below the hip- She waS taken to the Owen Sound hospital. Her many frien3s wish for her a com- plete recovery. Several ladies from here attended the silver tea and bazaar and splen- did program at the home of Mrs. Neil Camp.bell, Swinton Park. The afternoon was thoroughly enjoyed- Mes!srs. P. Sims, D. Campbell, X. L. Hincks and Bill McKechnie at- tended the second annual sale of the Ontario Abedeen Angus Association at the Winter Fair buildings at Guelipli on Saturday. They enjoyed a box lacrosse game in Fergufe the same evening. Rev. W. F. Butcher, former R.C .A..F. padre, now. executive secretary of the Presbyterian Advance for Christ and Peace, preached a fine sermon on Sunday at St. Andrew's church. Rev. C- L. Wood, missionary from India, was present Thursday night at the YP.S. and showed pictures ' on India. .A.1I enjoyed the pictures i and his splendid talk. He wa's also I at the Priceville school Friday morning and the children thorough- I ly enjoyed his talk- Mr. Wood has ! spent some 21 years in India and was very interesting. I Mr. and Mrs- Grant Stickney and I babe of StKitford spent the week end at the home of H. R. McLean- In spite of the stormy evening. Priceville hall was filled to see the i three-act comedy "A Ready-Made Family.' The cast played their parts I e.TCeedincrly well, to give the house many a laugS. The cast wish to thank Mr. X. Idle and Mr. C Hunter for their kind assistance and also Mary and John McKechnie, who fav- ored with selections between acts. Many thanks to the young people who assisted with stage accessories. The cast hope to give the play again in the near future. The W. I. will meet at the home of Mrs. Wm. Meads Thurs., June 6. Mr. Wm- McLeod and daughters, Mrs- Williams and children and Mrs. B. McKechnie, visited on Sunday at the home of Wm. Brown, Bunessan. The Y.P.S. met at the home of A. L. Hincks, when 29 were present. After the opening exercises. Mr. Halliwell and Mr. .A.lf. Hincks of Toronto gave addresses. Music and singing was enjoyed. Mr. Emei'son Meads is engaged at the home of Mr. Dan Campbell. The office manager was amazed. "Jonete in the hospital? Monday evening a large crowd gathered to watch a ball game be- tween CheeSeville and Orange Val- ley, the former winning 15-10. It was a good game.
