Thurston & Son, Proprietors PRICEVILLE At a meeting of the teachers and officers of the Presbyterian Sunday school held Monday evening at the home of Mrs. Sutherland it was de- cided to hold the Christmas program on Friday evening, Decembur 23rd. Plans rvfiire made to prepara pro- gram. Many attended the Anniversary ser- vices at St. Columiba United church, when Rev. S. G. McCormack of Thorn- ton was the speaker for the day and delivered two excellent sermons. On Tuesday evening a fowl supper was held in the basement of th3 church, when a large crowd attended and did ample justice to fine tables set and prepared by the ladies of the churcn. Following the supper was a program held in the auditorium of the church and Rev. M. Bennett of Flesherton presided. The Dramatic Club of Holstein presented their play, "Her Gloves," which was very humorous and thoroughly enjoyed by all. Rev. Dr. Maclvor gave a brief address and brought the greetings and good wish- es from the Presbyterian church. Rev. S. G. McCormack gave a short ad- dress and illustrated the desirability of church people working together. Rev. Mr. Bennett spoke an apprecia- tive word on the Presbyterians going ahead and building their new church. Tuesday, November 15th, the W M. S. and WOling Helpers will hold their monthly meeting in the hall, when all ladies are cordially invited. Lunch committee: Mrs. Angus Hooper and Mrs. Kate McArthur. Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Hincks and Mary, Miss Almeda Hincks and hei father visited at Mr. Findlay Mc- Cuaig's, Mulock, last week. Mrs. Stanley Maltby of Toronto vis- ited last week with her mother, Mrs. Buckham. Mr. and Mrs. Archie Stewart and family of Ceylon were recent guests at Mr. Alex. Stewart's. Mr. and Mrs. A. B. McArthur vis- ited the first of the week at Caledon. Mrs. Emerson Bennett returned home from Durham hospital feeling much improved in health. Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Harrison with Mr. Clifford Harrison ox Dromore were recent guests at Mr. Dave Hinck's. Mrs. Donald McMillan, South Line, who had the misfortune to fall and dislocate her arm was taken to Dur- ham hospital for an x-ray and suffers a good deal of pain yet. Next Sabbath morning Rev. Dr. Maclvor's subject will be "There shall be no more sea," and in the evening another question will be answered. "Where do you live?" Rev. B. D. Armstrong of Durham hall Sunday evening last, while R^/. preached an impressive scu-wu in the Dr. Maclvor preached Anniversary services at Rocky Saugeen. Men are busy these fine days work- ing on the church. The sides are boarded in and the rafters and roof being placed. EEVERSHAM Accidents which might have result- ed seriously occured here on Friday last and in which the men had narrow escapes. Mr. Jack Smith was work- ing at the foundation of his saw mill, situated at the edge of the rocks west of the grist mill, while trying to move a heavy timber his canthook slipped and he fell backwards do-wn the rocks, nbout 12 or 15 feet. He received p, bad sliaking up and some bruises, but nothing serious. Mr. Harold Osborne had another nai-row escape while he was taking a load of chop from the mill one of his wag.on wheels droppea Into a mud hole and threw him oi"! the load, along with some of the bags the horses backed up and the front wheel of the wagon just ip-azed his coat, if it had run over him he would have been seriously injured as there was over a ton of weight on the wag- on. Mrs. G. Eby visited with her daugh- ter in Owen Sound last week. Miss Grace Horton of Long Branch, who has 'been visiting with her grand- parents, Mr. and Mrs. Colquette here, visited with her aunt, Mrs. Frank Stephen and family of Singhampton over the week end. Mr. and Mrs. John Stewart of Flesherton spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Colquette here. Mr. and Mrs. Montgomery and fam- ily and Mr. and Mrs. Ross Oldf ield of Dundalk visited with Mr. and Mrs. lA. Nicholl here over Sunday. Mrs. F. Tyler visited with Mrs. W. Poole last week. PROTON STATION VICTORIA CORNERS Members of Inistioge church and neighbors of Wm. Talbot's met at their home to present a miscellaneous shower to Mr. and Mrs. Clem Livings- ton. The W.M.S. held their November meeting at the home of Mrs. Robt. Lee on Thursday evening, the gentle- men were also present. After the usual program and contest they all enjoyed a lunch and social chat. The crushing outfit is at work in the pit and gravel is being put on the roads by three trucks at present. CROP IS PROTECTED Farmers in Caledon district are showing considerable interest ip a new departure in Canadian farming meth- ods. Pat Lorum has made a thatch- ed roof for his stack of second cutting alfalfa to shed the rain. Mr. Lorum, an Irishman, learned the trick in his native land. The roof is made of swamp grass. Park and son, Gordon, Miss Lena Park, Mrs. Meddaugh and daughter visited Feversham friends. Mrs. Corbett Sr. has reiumed to her home after visiting her family. Mr. Kerstine spent the week end at his home in Hanover. Miss M. Knox was the guest of Mrs McNalty. Mr. and Mrs. James Burton anu family of Toronto spent the week ena with Mrs. Burton's parents, Mr. anil Mrs. Wyville. Miss Emily Acheson was a delegate from the Grey County Young People's nxecutive to the convention at New- market over the week end. Mr. Russell Acheson visited In Toronto. Mr. Arnold Hergott spent Sunday v/ith his father here. We correspondents sometimes grow weary of just writing names and what we consider insignificant little items and we wish we had an imaginative brain or the gift to wi-ite something worth while. Here is an incident which occurred quite recently, not so far away from here. A stranger was sitting in a hotel and picked up a local paper to pass away the time. Glancing through the list of corres- pondence his eye caught the name oi an old friend whom he had not seen for thirty-two years. In fact he had lost track of him. Enquiring of the landlord where this Proton Station was, and finding it was within easy reach,, he said that he was going t" visit his old friend. And so, becaust his name was in the paper, Mr. Rus- sell Irwin had the pleasure of welcom- ing his friend, Mr. Coy McDonald, to his home. Yes. Let us write all the names we can. Mr. Irwin . of Paisley visited bin brother here enroute to Toronto. Mrs Russell Irwin accompanied him to the city to visit friends. Mr. David Jamieson had a narrow- escape from what might easily have resulted in serious consequences. He was engaged threshing flax at Mr Fred Plantt's and while preventing tht straw from winding he lost his bal- ance and stepped in on the decks. Mel- vin Boyce, who was near, promptly caught him in time to save him from being carried to the blower. He is still feeling the effects. Mrs. Jordon of Toronto was a week end visitor with Mrs. James Hopps. Mr. and Mrs. .Walter Nuhn and ilr. and Mrs. J. H. Walker visited friends in Toronto. Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Malcolm a:id Miss Agnes of Collingwood and Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Wright and two child- ren of Ravenna visited with friends here during the week end. Indian Summer! Mr. and Mrs. Symons and two sons of Durham spent Sunday with the Park family. Mr. and Mr.-?. Johnston and little daughter, Agnes, of Toronto, also Mr. John Jamieson of Toronto visited a: the homes of Mrs. Wilson and Mr. Fred Jamieson. Miss Queenie Kaitting of Kilsyf.i visited on Sunday with air. and Mrs. Will. Kaitting and family. We extend our sympathy to Dr. ana Mrs. Little in their recent fire loss at Powassan. Dr. Little haa beei; conducting the dental practice of his brother, the late Dr. Herb Little. The dentist office, a store and some other buildings were destroyed by fire. Dr. and Mrs. Little are in the village here at present and we are pleased to have them amongst us again. Welcome back! BORN â€" On Wednesday, Novem- ber 2, 1932, to Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Pui-vis, a daughter. Mr. and Mrs. Avery Hawken of Flesherton visited on Sunday with the Park family. Messrs. Peter MuTishaw and Ernie Proctor are up north to enjoy Uiq hunting season. We wish them suc- cess in securing a deer. Mrs. Beecroft, 12th line, is spend- ing a few days with her mother, Mrs. S. Turner. We were sorry to hear or the sudd- en death of Mr. Chas. Bellamy of Flesherton on Saturday evening. We 2xtend our profound sympathy to rel- atives and friends in the sad bereave- ment. Foster improving and able to sit up a while each day. Mrs. J. Vessie of Durham visitec recently with her daughter, Mrs Dougald Clark, and also called on other friends while here. Mr. S. Holley is assisting Mr. Dick Clark with his fall work. Mr. Chas. Stafford is nursing a very sore hand ihe.-e days having had it badly cut on a buzz saw. Miss Fisher spent the week end at her home at Paisley. Miss Dora Stewart accompanied her and visited her aunt, Mrs. Bell. Mrs. D. McLeod has returned from visiting friends at Madoc. Mr. and Mrs. Thos. Stewart and family visited the latter's parents near Portlaw the first of the week. Mr. and Mrs. Sinclair visited friends at Harriston for the week end. Mr. F. Marshall and son, Alex., who have been on a hunting trip for ten days have returned home, having se- cured a deer. Miss Thompson and friend spent the week end at her home at Fever- sham.
