Ciiarge Pleading guilty to selling liquor, Mr. Alex Hoy, of Eugenia, was sen- tenced by Magistrate Creasor at Ow- en Sound, Monday, to two hundred dollars and costs, or in default of pay ment to spend three additional months in jail. The above plea was entered when Hoy was charged on evidence which had been laid before License Inspec- tor Matt C. Beckett, who issued summons to appear for trial in Flesh- erton this Wednesday morning, and he decided not to fight the case. A large eighteen inch fish was I caught last week off the main dam in deep water by the use of a fly, the first time we have heard of fish being caught in that place. The trout are certainly in the lake and it only awaits ideal fishing conditions in order to catch these finny mons- ters, which have been guarded by the Ontario government the past few years. It is confidently expected that this month will see some splendid fish being caught, but remember there are always bigger fish in the Eugenia lake than have yet been caught. The subject, "Resolved That Women as a Rule, Are Better Citizens Than Men," was upheld by Flesherton, with Kimberley contesting tiie neg- ative side. The Kimberley repreaeo: ' tatives were Misses Kathleen Hutch- inaon and Villa Ward, while Miss Dell Thurston and W. G. Akins, up- held St. Johns'. Miss Mildred Cas- well, the regular member of the team, waa absent, and Miss Thurston took her part on a few hours notice, thus forcing the team to work un- der a heavy handicap. An interest- ing argument however was presented, an* some fine points were brought forward by both sides, with Kimber- ley winning the decision. The judges were, Misa Bell and Mr. J. B.
