May, 1926. jHi._ Oliver when interviewed by the mg comment: So the Editor of the chronicle has entered tht guessing contest. Well there is such a thing in the world as luck, but it is often elusive, and of- ten uncertain. Still in spite of this, if the Editor of the Durham Chron- icle puts up a different prospective candidate in each issue of his valu- able paper, when the election date finally appears, who is ther« among- st us that will say he might not by a slim chance, by a mere coincidence, happen upon the one who will even- tually carry the Farmer Standard. But at the least it will only be a guess, and the time of. this well known and popular editor might be better employed. [Editor's Note: It is easy to be- lieve that there is more in the rumor than idle aupposition. Mr. Oliver is a very able, and convincing speaker, and should be able to carry the res- ponsibilities of the staid parliament- tarian. But whether he can defeat the present Conservtiva member. Concert The concert put on in the high .school auditorium by Dundalk talent on Thursday night Ia.?t was of high order and throughout the program credit was due the W. I. for the suc- cess of the evening. A fair sized house - greeted the entertainers, and would no doubt have been much lar- ger except for the busy season on the farms in the locality. The Colonel's Maid was the sub- ject of the comedy-drama, and the rendition was both pleasing and ex- cellently done. The need of a suitable stage was very appai-ent and the dramatizing of the subject was made much more dif- ficult than it otherwise should have been. Misses Elizabeth Bentham and Viola Thistlethwaitd contributed a fine duet, while Laura Boyd and a whistling solo drew much merited applause. Miss Nora Bowler playing the accompaniment. The proceeds amounted to S52 and will be devoted to Park improvement, a worthy object, and worth whole hearted support.
