On account of not being able to secure grounds at Vandeleur the game was played in Markdale. Mountain pitched a splendid game and had eleven stike-outs in the seven innings. Russell and Dave Gra- h irn relieved each other frequently and fanned twelve. Vandeleur only reached the bases severi times, one man reached third base, rive to second and one man was left at first. Flesherton's first run came in the third inning when Hutton walked, McLeod singled and Muir brought Hutton home by a good hit. Next inning went scoreless. Pedlar and Hutton fanned in quiek order in the fifth but.McLeod, Muir and Mountain, hitting safely, were brought home by Dow's two-bagger. Dow was caught stealing 3rd. Gibson scored in the sixth on McTavish's hit, and in the seventh Muif and Hutton cireled. With two down and three men on the bases Akins fanned. Seventeen men reached first base and seven runs were scored. Mountain allowed three walks, while the Graham brothers gate rive, three ot them being in the last inning. Vande- leur threw up the sponge with disgust in the seventh and left the field. Flesher- ton had five juniors on the line-up and was without the services of thre? regu- lar players, but nevertheless brought down the Vandeleur .600 idiviUual bat- ting average considerably.
