Death of David McMullen. The death of Master David McMullen, son of Mr. Wm. McMullen, Flesherton Station, which occurred on Friday last, was sudden although not altogether unexpected, as the young man had been for some time afflicted by that terrible disease, consumption. Deceased was a fine young man, highly esteemed by all who had the pleasure of his acquaintance. On Sunday last the remains were interred in the Presbyterian cemetery at Orange Valley. The funeral procession passed through this village, and was an unusually large one, there being 82 vehicles heavily laden with sorrowing friends and acquaintances. Matrimonial A Belleville correspondent writes: - "An interesting event took place in the Presbyterian church here on Thursday last. The principal participants are well known to many ADVANCE readers. They were Dr. Geo. S. Armstrong and Miss Ida Lazier, who were that day united in marriage, under the most auspicious circumstances. The wedding was very quiet, only the immediate relatives of the bride being present, but there were representatives of the groom's family and friends from Toronto and Flesherton. The bride was dressed in an elegant travelling costume of silk, but as to the accompanying adornments, exclusive of her native grace and beauty, the present write is not an expert, and must decline entering into particulars. A reception was subsequently held at the residence of the bride's cousin (Mr. J. N. Lazier) and early in the evening the happy couple left for the west." Dr. and Mrs. Armstrong arrived in Flesherton on a brief visit tot he family of the Doctor, on Friday evening last, and during the past few days have been recipients of the congratulations of their numerous friends. They left for Markdale by the Monday afternoon express, and on the same evening were tendered a reception at the residence of Mr. W. J. McFarland, the well-known merchant. Mrs. Armstrong has many friends in Markdale, having within the past few years been a frequent visitor to that "burg." She had a most hearty welcome, no the less so, because her respected husband had been for sometime in practice in the locality, and still has a wide circle of well-wishers. On Tuesday evening the Doctor and his wife left for Owen Sound, where they took passage by the Africa for McKay's Harbor, Lake Superior. The Doctor, since he left Markdale about a year ago, has held a lucrative position on the medical staff of the Canada Pacific Railway, and at present he has charge of the hospital at McKay's Harbor and th medical oversight of several thousand employees on the construction works at that point. he says the soil in that district is very rocky and sterile, not even a respectably sized tree growing for many miles around. There are some heavy cuttings and the work of laying down the great transcontinental line is in that locality, at all events, very expensive. ' ' - | I - i * t * ' .< I - : .
