Bruce received the 2005 Hamilton Health Sciences Cornerstone award for his work with patients and hospital administration identifying and improving wheelchair accessibility at McMaster University. He was a resource for students studying the needs of the physically challenged. His work with the students earned him the designation of Professional Associate from McMaster University. Life long member of All Saint's Anglican Church. He was a server and recipient of the Order of Niagara. Long time member and Inky award winner with Hamilton Theatre Inc. Special thanks to the loving care given by the medical teams in the BTU, General Hospital and the rehab team at St Peter's hospital. Dr. Turnbull was a constant resource to Bruce during his long battle with ALS.
