Police said at around 10 p.m. a 37-year-old woman was walking home along Morrison Road, in the Devon Road area, when a man suddenly grabbed her from behind. The man held the woman for around 15 seconds, as she screamed, before releasing her and fleeing the area on foot. He was last seen heading northbound on Morrison Road. Prior to the assault, the victim saw a man and woman walking together north on Morrison Road and police say it is possible they witnessed the assault. Police are asking this couple to come forward as they may be able to identify the suspect or provide police with further information. The suspect is described as being of Latin American decent, possibly 38 to 45 years old, 5-foot-11 in height with short dark curly black hair, no facial hair, a pointed nose and a medium build. He was wearing a black sweatshirt and black pants. The Halton Regional Police Service is continuing to investigate this incident and anyone with information related to it is asked to contact the Oakville Criminal Investigations Bureau at 905-825-4777 ext. 2215 or by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). The Ontario Realty Corporation (through Avison Young Commercial Real Estate) has put the first land immediately surrounding the new Oakville hospital site, at Third Line and Dundas, on the market. Avison Young Sales Representative Jonathan Hittner said the employment land, which is about 69 acres in size and located immediately west of the hospital site, was put up for sale last week, a move that he says holds great significance for the future of the area. "This is 69 acres of land that wasn't on the market that is now going to be available for a developer to purchase and build up into an office and industrial business park," said Hittner. "Obviously the hospital is a go and it's going to be going in in the next three to five years. I think building an office and industrial business park there is really going to change the landscape of Oakville." Hittner said the land's proximity of retail and residential areas, located just south of Dundas St., and Hwy. 407 has also made the area a prime location for employment land development. This 69-acre portion of land is not the only piece of real estate being eyed for development in the area. Hittner said the Town of Oakville is currently conducting a study into the feasibility of using a 50-acre portion of the land surrounding the new hospital site for a life sciences park. "They're going to be looking for an anchor tenant for that 50-acre life sciences park, obviously in the form of some sort of biosciences/pharmaceutical company, something like that," he said. There are around 200 acres of employment land in the immediate area of the hospital, which will eventually also be put on the market with the 69-acre portion. Hittner said the developer this land attracts will probably need to be a large one because that developer must buy the land and then wait three to five years for the area to receive the infrastructure it needs, which will only come with the construction of the new Oakville hospital. The 69-acre portion of land has yet to be purchased.
