Junior varsity Titans blank Burlington The Oakville Titans junior varsity Tier 2 football team accomplished a rare feat last weekend -- a shutout of the Burlington Stampeders. Oakville routed its nearby rivals 42-0 in a game that was called in the third quarter due to an injury to a Burlington player. "It's the first time in my six years with the Stampeders that I've seen no points on the scoreboard for a Stampeders team," said Burlington offensive co-ordinator Ben Britton. Oakville held Burlington without a first down in the opening quarter and allowed the Stamps to move the chains only four times in the contest. The game was called when a Stampeders player had to be taken directly to hospital by ambulance. No update was provided afterwawrds regarding the player's health. Burlington coaches and parents expressed appreciation to the Titans squad for the respect it showed in staying on the field until its opponent left. The victory improved Oakville's record to 2-1, good for second place in the Tier 2 stand- Two members of the Oakville Titans junior varsity Tier 2 team (in blue) break up a pass intended for a Burlington Stampeders receiver last weekend.
