The honoured students are representative of exceptional qualities in at least two of the following areas: Catholic leadership, family commitment, involvement in school affairs, involvement in community activities and dedication to a difficult situation or task. · David Monk, Holy Family School: David was selected for this award because he shares his spirit in everything he does. Whether he's in the classroom, on the court or leading the school as student council co-president, David shows respect for others and Catholic leadership throughout the school community. · Olivia Wozniak, Holy Trinity Secondary School: Olivia has provided exceptional leadership and spirit. Her Christian values, leadership and rapport with staff and students, along with her intrinsic sense of justice, fairness and equality, have positively impacted the moral development of the Holy Trinity Catholic Secondary School community. · Jonathan Berg, Mother Teresa School: Jonathan has been selected because he displays strong Catholic leadership qualities. He has a strong commitment to family, school community relations and his involvement in community activities is exemplary. · Natalie Discenza, Our Lady of Peace School: Natalie has been dedicated, involved and socially responsible in all school activities from athletics to student council and within the community throughout her years at Our Lady of Peace Catholic School. She consistently displays a strong sense of leadership, faith and commitment to school, community and family. · Samantha Olguin, Pope John Paul II School: The Pope John Paul II Catholic School community is proud of Samantha, as its recipient of the 2010 Student Award of Excellence. She has a positive rapport with both the students and staff and demonstrates a strong commitment to her faith, displaying Catholic leadership as an active member of the school's social justice committee. · So Young Hong, St. Andrew School: So Young (Sally) Hong is a dedicated and conscientious student who exemplifies Gospel values in her interactions with others. With quiet confidence and spiritual leadership, she willingly shares her talents and gifts. · Cassandra Scott-Alaimo, St. Bernadette School: Cassandra demonstrates Catholic leadership qualities on a daily basis at St. Bernadette Catholic School. Not only does she achieve a high degree of academic excellence, but she realizes on a daily basis her social responsibility to bring Gospel values to those in our school community. · Emily Foster, St. Dominic School: Emily is an enthusiastic, compassionate and committed young woman, who consistently shares her many beautiful gifts. He is a shining example of what it means to treat everyone with dignity, equity and respect. · Mills Amaning, St. James School: Mills is a Grade 8 student and an incredible young man, whose ability to negotiate obstacles is to be admired. He possesses the ability to bring a peaceful resolution to any negative social situation. He supports others and has a genuine concern for the welfare of his peers. In concert with this, Mills is an excellent student whose dedication and work ethic have earned him the respect of not only his peer group, but all staff at St. James School. · Leah Brown, St. Joan of Arc School: Leah has been honoured this year with the "Sharing the Spirit" Award of Excellence, because of the exemplary Catholic values she exhibits in her school and community life. Her Christianity is evident in her daily decision making regarding her peers and her school work. She demonstrates personal integrity, a deep sense of justice and compassion for others, and is a well-mannered, cooperative and conscientious student, who is admired and respected by both students and teaching staff. · Daniella Fontaine, St. John School: Daniella is a mature, responsible and consistent student. She contributes at school as an Office Assistant, and in her Parish as an Altar Server. She video-taped St. John's Grade 8 A.V. Presentation at the Youth Rally Day. Daniella displays exemplary qualities as a family member, friend to peers and as a student. · Alicia Arnds, St. Joseph School: Alicia personifies this award in everything she does from the moment she arrives to school to the last word out the door. Her enthusiasm, energy, generosity and positive attitude at all times, are simply contagious. Alicia shares many gifts with everyone at school, in the parish, or in the many community activities she belongs to. She is a very deserving recipient as she does not hide her "light under a bushel"; she lets it shine for everyone to see. · Kristina De Bellis, St. Luke School: Kristina's quiet and gentle leadership qualities exemplify the expectations of a Catholic school graduate. She is always willing to share her many talents and is a role model among her peers. With young people such as Kristina, there is great hope for the future. · Tomas Marek, St. Marguerite d'Youville School: Tomas is an exemplary student, who is actively involved in the St. Marguerite school community, as well as his church community.
