Emily Farquharson of Oakville Trafalgar finished fourth in the junior girls' 3,000-metre race at last week's south regional championships in St. Catharines, earning her a trip to the OFSAA meet that began yesterday (Thursday) in London. Eight individuals from Oakville qualified for the meet. The Beaver regrets the omission. Mite Angels win gold in Waterloo After watching a final-inning lead slip away, the Oakville Angels mite girls rebounded to score in the bottom half of the inning and win the championship at a fastpitch tournament in Waterloo last weekend. The Angels edged the Waterloo Ghosts 11-10 in the gold-medal game, scoring the winning run on a passed ball. Waterloo had scored five runs in the top of the frame, tying the game on a two-run homer with two outs. Oakville lost only once in its five games at the tournament, dropping a 107 decision to the Mississauga North Tigers. The Angels' other victories came over the Stratford Flames (16-12), Cambridge Coyotes (13-2) and Ghosts (13-7). All but three of the players on this year's team are in their first season at the mite level. Members of the team are Amy Lampitt, Tori Allingham, Angelina Lombardi, Sydney Dufour, Neilee Reay, Lauren Greco, Jordan Iacobelli, Jessica Hartley, Lauren Beattie, Kelsey Lee and Sydney Lee.
