This is the slogan being promoted by John McMullen, who will attempt to unseat Ward 1 Town Councillor Ralph Robinson in the October municipal election. In his upcoming campaign, McMullen said he will attempt to balance growth and development, which he says are necessary and inevitable if Bronte is to be a viable community, with maintaining Bronte's unique village character. The growth and development, he points out, must occur in a prudent manner that respects the input of residents and businesses and is firmly based on a collaborative effort between the Town and all stakeholders. McMullen said he will focus on preserving and enhancing Bronte's village character. "It is this very same character that should anchor the community as we move forward," he said. Some of the other key features in McMullen's platform include responsible management of municipal finances and taxes, transparency and accountability, health and safety and maintenance of Bronte's quality of life. McMullen's consulting practice, John McMullen & Associates, specializes in the development and commercialization of technologies, programs and services in the environment and renewable energy sectors. He founded and continues to deliver two long-running annual conferences and exhibitions entitled `Growing the Margins' and `Canadian Farm and Food Biogas, which tackle energy conservation, renewable energy generation and related fields facing the farm, food processing and rural sectors.
