Following that, in August 2008, the Province released criteria to consider requests from regional, county and single-tier governments to expand the current Greenbelt boundaries. In response, the Town of Oakville has requested that Halton Region initiate a study to determine the appropriateness of growing the Greenbelt within Oakville in an effort to help protect environmentally-sensitive lands around the Greater Golden Horseshoe.
