21 · Friday, May 28, 2010 OAKVILLE BEAVER · www.oakvillebeaver.com OPL annual report is ready to read O akville Public Library' 2009 Report to the Community will be on our website next week. Please check out the website at www.opl.on.ca and click on the 2009 Report to the Community icon featured on the home page. The report focuses on some of the new and improved services and programs that have been implemented successfully during the year. In 2009 customers relied on their library like never before and services such as Internet access, e-book downloads and DVDs were well utilized. Our libraries continued to deliver excellent service -- residents gave the library the top ranking in the Town of Oakville's 2009 Citizens Survey, with a 91 per cent satisfaction rating. The report highlights new online services introduced, including the ability to stream music through our Naxos Music Library and to download e-books and audiobooks to mobile devices. Best of all, these services are free with your Oakville Public Library card. In 2009, we also saw the start of programs offered in partnership with other multicultural organizations, increasing the opportunities for newcomers and members of the community to access our library services. Our annual Teen Writing Contest had its most successful year to date, with a record number of submissions. Oakville youths also benefited from the opening of The Teen Book Depot in April 2009 in the Bronte Youth Centre. More than 4,200 children enrolled in the annual TD Summer Reading program in 2009. OPL also launched online reporting for this hugely successful children's program for the first time. This was a huge hit with busy families.
