I left wonderful people. It was hard. I'd been there for seven years, but you have to follow your dream." Dinsmore said she hopes the company will be worldwide within five years. "We are growing so fast. It's unbelievable to me," Dinsmore said. "But the nice thing about it is that we're looking at bringing more reversible items. There are always surprises around the corner. The more stores, the better. We've had a lot of distributor interests. We've had a lot of interests from different countries." Luvali Convertibles sold its first handbag in 2008. "We'd been in development for a long time before that," Dinsmore said. "It took a long time for us to get to market because we wanted to make sure that it was right and that the fabrics were right, the quality was right." Dinsmore said there aren't a lot of similar products like theirs on the market. "There are a few other convertible type handbags, but our focus is on quality. Our fabrics are from the United States and we focus on quality and we focus on reversibility," she said. "There are lots of crafty reversible totes that you turn inside out but that's not what we are. We're an actual handbag that happens to be able to convert." The handbags come in two sizes, classic and tote. Customers can choose between black and chocolate brown for the base colour of the bag. Dinsmore said there will be two more sizes added shortly. "Once you buy one bag and you bring it home, you might say, `Oh, I want a blue bag or an orange bag.' You go back to the store and you just buy the slip part," she said. "You don't have to buy the whole bag again. So with one bag, you have endless possibilities." Luvali Convertibles also features baby and children's clothing. Dinsmore said having children of her own gave her the idea. "It was a passion of mine and people don't necessarily splurge on themselves but they'll splurge on their kids and it's fun," she said. "You're only a kid once and it makes things really fun and exciting and different for them." Durk said the children's products are great for grandparents looking for gifts ideas. "Being a grandmother, I'm always looking for things for my grandchildren so I'm constantly seeing all these cute little things so the timing was just perfect for this." At a pre-Emmy party, the women discovered that the handbags were also popular with celebrities. "Celebrities love it because when they travel, they've got a great quality bag, but they still want to be able to change and travel easy," Dinsmore said. "So they bring the one bag and they bring a bunch of slips and they change it out so they're not seen carrying the same bag all the time." Luvali Convertibles won the top-ten new product award in 2009 at the Canadian Gift Association. For more information on Luvali Convertibles, visit www.luvali.ca
