Sofie passed away peacefully at Wyndham Manor in Oakville. Sofie was born in Sloboda, Ukraine, daughter of the late Katherine and Philip Kwecko. She lived through the hardships of the great depression and second world war. After the war, she made her way to England where she met her husband, Michael. They immigrated to Canada where she gave birth to her only daughter, Natalie in Hamilton. Sofie (Baba) struggled with bipolar illness for most of her adult life. She lived into her 85th year through the loving care of her daughter as well as the many wonderful mental health care workers, especially from Homes for Special Care through the years and from Wyndham Manor more recently. The family would like to thank these dedicated people. Baba is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Natalie and David Tanner and her grandson, Michael. She will be missed.
