By David Lea OAKVILLE BEAVER STAFF A chiropractor, who has been living in Haiti for nearly two years, has sold her Oakville practice to give her the freedom she needs to help the people in the impoverished, earthquake-torn nation. Last week, Cheryl van der Mark sold the North Ridge Chiropractic Clinic in northeast Oakville, which she opened in 2003. Since September 2008 the clinic had been run on her behalf by Dr. Julie Maduri, who has now bought the business. "I really want the community to know how much Oakville has been part of my life and how it will continue to be and it's very difficult to sell the practice, but I'm very pleased it's in good hands," van der Mark said during her week-long stay in Canada last week. She spent a week in Canada away from her busy schedule with the Mission of Hope Haiti (MOHH) to finalize the sale of her practice. Van der Mark, a Waterdown, Ontario resident, made the initial move to Haiti after several short stints in the impoverished country, where she now manages MOHH medical facilities. Prue said that motion, which passed, reformed the Ontario Municipal Board (OMB) making it so that from that point on proposed energy projects could not be appealed to the OMB. Flynn's motion, Prue said, destroyed a municipality's ability to use its zoning authority to situate energy projects of greater size than two megawatts.
